Dr. L. Stanford Beard, 83, of Buies Creek died Thursday, November 22, 2012. He was born in Langley, SC, the son of Sailor and Lillie Beard. He was preceded in his death by his wife, Lois Whatley Beard on September 4, 2007. Dr. Beard was a US Army veteran and a professor at Campbell University for over 30 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was an active member of the Gideons International.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Jefferds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00AM.

Dr. Beard is survived by a son, Kevin Stanford Beard and wife Cathey of Knoxville, TN; son, Eldon S. Beard and wife Pamela of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Justin Beard, Elizabeth Beard, Joseph Beard,Lauren Beard and Kristen Beard; great-grandchildren, Chai Beard, Asher Beard and Hosannah Beard; brother, Roland Beard of Aiken, SC and Wayne Beard of Aiken, SC.
