Ken Hayes, 74, of Sanford, NC, passed away suddenly Friday, 18 March, 2011 doing something that he thoroughly enjoyed, being outdoors and working in the yard.

Ken spent most of his early years in Minnesota on the family farm growing up as one of thirteen brothers and sisters. Most of his adult life was spent in the Pacific Northwest working in the logging industry as a contractor and owner/operator. After retiring from the logging industry, he settled in Walla Walla, WA where he spent many years before moving to North Carolina to be closer to his granddaughter in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Myrtle Rosen Hayes; a son, Timothy; sister, Barbara; and brothers, Myron, Don, and Curtis.

He is survived by his sons, James of Sanford, NC, Curtis of Hayden, ID, and Kenny of Spokane, WA; granddaughter, Erika; sisters, Marlis Statton, June Johnson, and Margie Stultz; and brothers, Delane, Leland, Merald, Gary, and Stanley.

A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Life Church in Walla Walla, WA.
