Mrs. Kay Mason Upchurch, 77, of Broadway passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Wade Clarendon and Hassie Brown Mason. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Reynolds Mason; sisters, Alva Lee Thomas, and Janie Mason Seagroves; niece, Allison Smith; nephew, Keith Thomas.

Kay was a lifelong active member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church where she taught the preschool Sunday School Class and was a member of the choir. She worked as an Assistant Deputy Clerk for the Harnett County Clerk of Court- Criminal Division and retired after 30 years of service. Kay enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and looking after her fur babies, Sugar, and Sweetie. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Kay is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bennie Upchurch of the home; sons, Al Upchurch and wife Brenda of Broadway, Jason Upchurch of Lillington; grandson, Taylor Upchurch of Lillington; 3 great-granddaughters, Mia Gray, Natalie Mae, and Sofia Tae Upchurch; twin sister, Faye Upchurch and husband Durward of Lillington, sister, Libby Mason of Mamers; special niece, Angie Upchurch Jordan of Lillington and many other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, August 22, 2022, at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington with Rev. Kent Miller and Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
