Judy Carol Sloan Buchanan, 70, of Lillington, NC went to be with the Lord Thursday December 16, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 23, 1951, in Lee County, NC to the late Clara Stone Sloan and C.B. Sloan, Jr. Judy was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Peedin and her brother Charles Sloan III.

Judy was a 1969 graduate of Sanford Central High School and received her associate degree from Central Carolina Community College. Over the span of her career, she held numerous positions serving as a secretary at Jones Lee Furniture, an administrative assistant for the Lee County Manager, and as a legal secretary for Johnson and Johnson Attorneys in Lillington and Allen Lynch of Dunn.

Judy was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and Nana. She loved going out to lunch with her husband and friends at Sweet Magnolias. She liked getting her hair and nails done. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spent lots of time making memories with them. She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. She had many friends that she cherished.

She was a devoted and faithful member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Joe Buchanan of the home; her daughter, Lisa Wangelin and husband James of Fuquay-Varina; her son, Brian Buchanan of Lumberton; her grandchildren, Abbey Wangelin and Nicholas Wangelin; her sister, Joyce Sloan of Broadway; her brothers, Larry Sloan of Dobson, and Jerry Sloan and wife Bonnie of Sanford; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday December 21 at 1PM at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobby Rackley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
