Joshua "Josh" Shelton Mullen, 26 of Broadway passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Josh was born August 14, 1989 in Lee Co. to Sheila Marie Patterson and Steve Thomas Mullen. Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Shelton Mullen.

Josh loved to be outdoors and hunt and fish. "Josh may have been late for work, but he was never late for a hunting or fishing trip." Josh was an huge Tar Hill fan. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with people. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Boomer. He will surely be missed by his friends and family. "We love you Josh, see you soon."

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerome Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and also at the homes of Ed Patterson or Delores Mullen.

Josh is survived by his parents, Sheila Marie Patterson of Rougemont NC and Steve Mullen of Sanford; a brother, Corey Mullen and wife Cody of Sanford; 3 step-sisters, Brianna Mullen of Mamers, Makyla Lindsey of Sanford and Shayla Lindsey of Mamers; a step-brother, Brice Mullen of Sanford and Charlie Holder of Mamers; Maternal grandparents, Ed and Sandra Patterson of Broadway; Paternal grandmother, Delores Mullen of Mamers; several cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the UNC Children's Hospital.
