Joseph C. Furin, 76 of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Highland House Nursing Home.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville where he retired with over 35 years at the US Postal Service. He also served in the US Army National Guard. He was an award winning gardener and an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-5:30 P.M. Thursday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, Lillington.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Peggy Thomas Furin.

Joe was survived by 2 sons, Robert Scott Tompkins and wife Courtney of Fuquay-Varina, and Matthew Shaw Furin and wife Crystle of Mooresville; 2 daughters, Kerri Walters of England and Lori Jackson of Waycross, GA Sister, Anna Reynolds and husband Edward of Charleston, SC; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Shaw Furin and Joseph Matthew Furin of Mooresville, Josh Walters of Raleigh, Kristen and Cody Jackson of Waycross GA; 2 Great Grandchildren.
