Obituary

Joseph Weldon Foster, Jr., 71 of Goldston died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at home.

Joseph was born February 26, 1944 to the late Joseph Weldon Foster, Sr. and Louise Brinkley Foster. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Waters.

Joseph's passion was pottery. He was a self-taught potter whose pottery was very well known. He ran Jake's Pottery in Seagrove. He was a member of the Pottery Guild in Raleigh. He served on the USS Wasp in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marlene Hyatt Foster of Goldston; a son, Julian Brett Foster and wife Paula of Fuquay-Varina; a step-son, Robert Brooks of CA; a sister, Emily Foster Lucas and husband Manly of Sanford; 8 grandchildren, Emma, Liam, Joseph III, Robbie, Dillon, Christina, John and Maxx; a brother-in-law, Don Waters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
