Mr. Joseph David "Dabber" Chandler, 71, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

David was born January 16, 1948, in Alamance County to the late J.Y. and Virginia Chandler.  He played football at Appalachian State University.  He served in the NC National Guard and attended Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Above all else, David was a great husband, father, and grandfather to his family who he adored.  He was loved by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at noon in O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel with Rev. C. Paul Jones presiding.  The burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.

David is survived by his wife of 31 years, Margaret Vuncannon Chandler; four children, Mark Horton and wife Debbie of Longs, SC, Connie Horton Austin of Lillington, Michelle Horton Stephens and husband Jeremy of Fuquay-Varina, and Brad Horton and wife Danalynn of Fuquay-Varina; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Chandler of Asheboro and Julian Chandler of Burlington.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 11 am to Noon at the funeral home.
