Mr. John Reid Kapili, Jr., 66, of Fuquay Varina, NC passed away Wednesday night, April 18, 2018.

John was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, to John and Rebecca Kapili. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1969, the first three year graduating class at the school. He was retired from GTE/Verizon after 23 years of service. He was a Mason and past master of the Fuquay-Varina Lodge. He was also a member of Church Alive.

John loved to fish; he was an avid techie nerd; loved animals and gardening. He was an outgoing person who loved to be around people, to help others and always ready to engage with his great sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2 pm at Church Alive in Fuquay-Varina with Pastor Stacy Clearman presiding. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Sr.

John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pegge Kapili; cherished puppy, Maddie; children, Amber Smith (Michael), John Kapili III (Yizenia), and Giny Instasi (Jerry); grandsons, Colton Smith (Rebekah) and Wesley Skye; mother, Rebecca Kapili; brother, Philipe Kapili (Terri); sister-in-law, Michelle Vanek (Albert); brothers-in-law, Kevin Valentine and Howard Valentine III; nephews, Justin Valentine; and nieces, Courtney Valentine, Sonja Balcer, and Summer Kapili.
