Mr. John Alvin Christian, 51, of Lillington passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was born in Lee County, the son of Norman and Iva Douglas Christian. John loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He was a farmer, worked with Moen in Sanford and later medically retired from Sara Lee Knits in Sanford. John was preceded in death by a grandson, Bentley Patton.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Cool Springs United Methodist Church in Broadway with Rev. Ramon Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home from 10:00- 10:45 AM and other times at the home.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by a son, John Melvin Christian of the home, daughters, Heather Patton and husband Carl of Cameron and Ann Milton and husband Stephen of Lillington, sons, Jason Haire of Lillington and James Morrison and wife Brandy of Olivia, wife, Diane Morrison of the home, 3 grandchildren, Hanna Bowles, Broughton Bowles and Brooke Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
