John "Johnny" W. Buchanan, 72, of Greenville, formerly of Harnett County, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020.

John was preceded in death by wife Beverly Buchanan, and brothers Billy and James Buchanan. Johnny loved anything to do with agriculture. He taught agriculture at Deep River School and farmed many different crops throughout his lifetime. He also loved hunting, fishing and anything else that involved the outdoors. Johnny was called Opa by his grandchildren and many more children that knew him.

John is survived by his children, Ashley Terrell and husband Donny and children Junah, Lael, Gwyn, DJ of Lillington; Britt Buchanan and wife Ramona and grandchildren Solomon, Obidiah, Esther, and Priscilla of Winterville; sisters Nell Neal, Linda Revill; brother Ross Buchanan and companion Sherri Clark.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday July 30, 2020, at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev. Phil Whitt officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the multipurpose building from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
