Mr. Jimmie Dale McKenzie, 57, of Lillington passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst. He was born in McLeansboro, IL, the son of Sherman and Georgia Belle Barber McKenzie. Jimmie worked for Lehigh Hanson Gardner Quarry in Lillington for the past 26 years as a heavy equipment operator. His passion was his garden and he shared his bounty with his many friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2014 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Gregg Newton officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Deborah McKenzie of the home, step-son, Shawn Buring and wife Jessica of Carthage, 3 step-grandchildren, Olivia, Nolan and Harper, 4 brothers, John McKenzie and wife Casey of McLeansboro, IL, David McKenzie of Keenes, IL, Cecil McKenzie of Lillington, Mark McKenzie and wife Alice of Gillette, Wyoming, 2 sisters, Marilyn Eli and husband Bob of Evansville, IN and Sandy Johnson and husband Danny of McLeansboro, IL and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 5889, 251 Campground Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374.
