Jessie Mae Cannady, 94, of Lillington passed from this world at Rex Hospital on Good Friday, March 25, surrounded by her loved ones. Jessie was born 7 December 1921 to Arlie and Chesley Johnson. She was the second child in a family of nine. Sisters include Florine Penny, Ramona Bethune, Edith Mangum, Doris Peebles; brothers: John Marshall Johnson (deceased), Larry Johnson (deceased), Aaron Johnson, and Nathan Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stuart Holt Cannady. She is survived by her children: Sandra Turlington and husband, Gary of Lillington; Susan Temple and husband David of Apex; Angela Cannady and Michael O'Neal of Lillington and Joseph Cannady of the home. Jessie had two grandchildren: Chesley Turlington and wife Karmen of Apex and Jennifer Temple of Apex. She also leaves behind many deeply loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jessie was an active member of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church where we will celebrate her life on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Doctor Roger Horne will officiate. Interment at Harnett Memorial Park will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
