Miss Jennie Marie Byrd, 87, of Lillington died Monday, October 19, 2020 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Junius and Alda O'Quinn Byrd. Jennie was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church where she enjoyed working with children in the Bible Drill and AWANA programs. She loved to go out to eat with friends, especially the "Gadabouts" at Western Sizzlin and Cracker Barrel. Jennie spent time spoiling her nieces and nephews at every opportunity and never missed a family gathering.

Jennie is survived by 3 brothers, Ed Byrd of Sanford, Johnny Byrd and wife Jean of Lillington, Ronald Byrd of Flat Rock, NC; 2 sisters, Elsie Brown of Lillington, Shirley Hogue and husband Johnny of Lillington; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Rick Beacham and Rev. Martin Groover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church Baptist Men, P.O. Box 525, Mamers, NC 27552.   In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
