Jean Hedgpeth Tew,78, of Lillington, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2022. She was born in Harnett County, December 22, 1943.

Jean graduated from Deep River High School in 1962, attended Campbell College, and later graduated from Sanford Business college. After serving in various secretarial capacities, she also served as secretary of Lillington Baptist Church, giving selflessly to her community and the congregation for many years before retiring. Jean found a love for music, playing piano and singing with her sister and in her church, beginning at a young age. She continued that love of music as an active member of Lillington Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and occasionally played the piano for many years. Jean was a lover of the arts. She wrote short stories and poems and was a very talented painter.  She lived for and loved her family, friends, church family, and God with her whole heart and kind spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ethel Hedgpeth, and sister Dixie Hedgpeth Cole.

She is survived by her husband Wallace Ray Tew, son Berry Lewis and wife Lisa, son Charles Tew, grandsons Jonathan, Ryan, and Alex, brother Steve Hedgpeth, sister Linda Hedgpeth Hunt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Although she is mourned, we find comfort in that she is without pain and is wrapped in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ where she awaits us all one day.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, July 21, 2022, at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Daniel Selman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee's Chapel/Williford Cemetery in the Plainview community.
