Mrs. Jean Williams Byrd, 81, of Lillington passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late William Clarence Williams and Thelma Caddell Williams. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. "Johnny" Byrd and son, Scott Dexter Byrd. Jean worked in the office of personnel management at Ft. Bragg and Pope AFB, retiring from civil service with over 30 years. She enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with family. Jean was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Jean is survived by sons, Johnny Dwight Byrd and wife, Kathleen, Barry William Byrd, and Johnathan Dillon Byrd; her grandchildren, Randall Scott Byrd, Ashley Byrd Arnold, Kaylee Morgan Byrd, Ian William Byrd, and Jenna Sharon Byrd; her great-granddaughter, Meadow Suzanne Arnold; sisters, Joan Williams of Erwin, Barbara Massengill and husband Charles of Benson, Ruby Bryant and husband Larry of Dudley, NC, Donna Trice and husband Edwin of Morrisville, NC; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-3:45 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary with Rev. Rick Beacham and Rev. Robbie O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
