Mr. John Broughton "J.B." Britt, 80, of Buies Creek died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington after a period of declining health. He was born November 4, 1931 in Harnett Co., the son of the late Broughton Carr and Inez Stewart Britt of Buies Creek.

He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a farmer in the Oak Grove community for 52 years. Mr. Britt was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Buies Creek Fire Dept. and the Harnett County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Berdene and Odell Smith; sister, Shelby Johnson; brothers-in-law, Joe Mabry and Bill Crissman; sister-in-law, Martha Britt and two infant brothers.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 20, 2012 at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jesse Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Anne Lipscomb Britt; daughter, Betty Ann Britt of the home; son, John Broughton Britt, Jr. and wife Rhonda R. Britt of Angier; grandson, Adam Britt of the home; grandchildren, Ashton and Carson Britt of Angier; brother, Linwood Britt of Raleigh; sisters, Shirley Mabry of Angier and Bonnie Crissman Alexander of Apex.
