Obituary

Jarrod Lee McNeill, 41, of Erwin, passed away August 28, 2026. He was born in Moore County, the son of the late Norman Keith McNeill and Agnes Stewart McNeill Taylor. In addition to his father, Jarrod was preceded in death by his daughter, Faith McNeill; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joan and Ronnie Parker; paternal grandparents, Jim and Lillian McNeill; maternal grandparents, Neil and Helen Stewart; and step-grandfather, Tunnie Taylor.

Jarrod was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and so much more to the family and friends who loved him. More than anything, he loved his family. His wife Ashley and his children were the center of his world, and some of his happiest moments were simply those spent with them. Whether they were taking a family trip, he was coaching his boys in sports, or they were just enjoying time together, his family was where his heart was.

Jarrod also loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to his beloved Tar Heels and Atlanta Braves. And then there was mowing. Jarrod had been mowing grass since about the time he was old enough to walk, and that love stayed with him throughout his life. He spent many years working in lawn care and brought that same hardworking spirit to his career with Wynn Site Development, where he worked as an Erosion Control Superintendent.

Those who knew Jarrod also knew how much he cared for others. He was the kind of person who showed up when someone needed him, whether it was family, a friend, a neighbor, or someone in the community. He was always willing to lend a hand and would do whatever he could to help. That generosity, along with his love for his family, will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Jarrod is survived by his wife, Ashley Parker McNeill of the home; sons, Caleb Spengel, Maddox, Beckett, and Preston McNeill; mother, Agnes Stewart Taylor and husband, Randy; step-grandmother, Shelby Jean Taylor; brother, Keith McNeill and wife, Michell; step-brother, Brandon Taylor and wife, Michelle; sisters-in-law, Amanda Norris and husband, Charles, and Andrea Parker and partner, Brandon Johnson; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and other extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the Holly Springs Multi-Purpose Building in Broadway. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Parsons, Rev. Scott Yow and Ashley Cummings officiating. The family requests that those attending, please wear Tarheel colors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Jarrod’s memory consider a contribution for his boys. A memorial savings account has been established at State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) in care of Ashley McNeill and Agnes McNeill Taylor, mention the last four account numbers: 6263. Additional information regarding contributions will be shared with family and friends.
