Janet Neil Hood Johnson, 87 of Lillington passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her home.

Janet was born in Buies Creek on August 1, 1927 to the late John R. Hood, Sr. and Louise Kivett Hood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John M. Johnson; her grandparents Zachary Taylor Kivett and Lillian McNeill Kivett; sisters, Mildred Hood Johnson and Katherine Hood Pope; and a brother, Ret. Col. John R. Hood, Jr..

Janet was the Harnett Co. Book Mobile Librarian for over 30 years. Following her retirement she spent her days being a homemaker, reading, enjoying her garden, her children and her beloved cats-especially Smokey. She was a member of Neill's Creek Baptist Church.

Janet is survived by 3 daughters, Janet Louise Johnson of Lillington, Dr. Katherine Johnson Coats and husband Kevin of Holly Springs and Mildred Johnson Hinkle of Pittsboro; a son, John Marshall Johnson, Jr. and wife Deborah of Elm City; a grandson, Brian Johnson of Washington DC; and many other family members who loved her and will miss her.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Neill's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, June 15, 2015 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
