Obituary

James Franklin "Frankie" Thomas, 74 of Sanford went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his home.

Frankie was a graduate of Central High School. He was a mechanic who worked for Saco-Lowell for 22 and Tyson Mexican Original for 23 years. He loved their horse Apache Star and their dogs and cats. Frankie loved getting out and riding motorcycles. He was a huge NASCAR racing and Duke Basketball fan. He was a member of Eastside Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved and cared for everyone he had worked with over the years.

Frankie was born December 18, 1939 to the late Ervin Edward and Erma Ida Yarborough Thomas. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Johnny Edward Thomas and Billy Ray Thomas.

Frankie is survived by his wife of 35 years Janet W. Thomas of Sanford, a son, Steven Ray Thomas of Iowa; 3 sisters, Margaret Payne and husband Truby of Southern Pines, Faye Stark and husband Dennis of Pine Bluff and Lois Thompson and husband Ray of Sanford; 5 nieces and 4 nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2014 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Hinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday and 1:30-3:00 PM Sunday at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral home. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park.
