James (Jim) Albert Crooks, 94, of Buies Creek, NC, formerly of Winston-Salem, died peacefully on February 2, 2010, following a short illness. Jim grew up in Maiden, NC, and was the class president of his high school. He graduated from Appalachian State Teacher's College in 1937 and was a state champion collegiate wrestler and team captain nicknamed "The Strangler.â€
