Jack Byrd, age 78, of Dunn, formerly of Bunnlevel, died on May 27, 2014, in Dunn, North Carolina. He was born February 28, 1936 to Pinkston Gray and Addie (Godwin) Byrd in Harnett County, North Carolina. He married Hazel Lee on August 22, 1954 and they had three children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Melvin Byrd on March 25, 1973; a son, Eugene Byrd on April 24, 2014; and a brother John Olin Byrd on September 12, 2002.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Wayne and Ginger Chagnon, of Havre, Montana; grandchildren: Jessica (Danny) Boyer of Great Falls, Montana; Ryan Chagnon of Great Falls, Montana; Gray (Ashlee) Chagnon of Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Montana; and five great grandchildren: Ashton Sewell, Haven Sewell, Carter Chagnon, Charleigh Boyer and Gannon Chagnon; and nephews, Tommy and Johnny Byrd, of Bunnlevel, North Carolina.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 3, 2014, at Bunnlevel Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
