Mrs. Iris L. Cotton, 90, of Kipling passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at her home. She was born in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Craven Earl Lee and Bettie Warren Lee. Iris retired from teaching after 32 years of service in the Harnett County School System. She served in the Kipling United Methodist as pianist and organist for over 65 years. Mrs. Cotton also taught Sunday school and directed the choir for many of those years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Cotton, Jr. Her passion for learning was shown through avid reading, challenging word puzzles and general curiosity.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Kipling United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery in Kipling. The family will receive friends at the Kipling Community Building Thursday from 1:00-3:00 PM and other times at her home.

Mrs. Cotton is survived by son, Dwight L. Cotton and wife, Mitchell of Kipling, daughters, Betty C. Evans of Rock Hill, SC, June C. Sloan and husband, Terry of Gainesville, GA, 6 grandchildren, Bailey and fiancé, Andrew, Seth and wife, Lauren, Emma, Matthew, Lesley and husband, Bryan, Justin, great-granddaughter, Ava, sister, White Hamilton of McGee's Crossroads.
