Mrs. Helen Weaver Roberts, 80, of Erwin died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Hospice Of Wake County in Raleigh. Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of the late Haywood Thomas and Erma Stephens Weaver. She was preceded in death by her husband, King Roberts, Sr., and sisters Evelyn Dennis, Elsie Wilson and Hazel Stuart. Helen and King first came to Harnett County in the early 1950s, where they worked side by side in their cattle and farming business until his death in 1981. She also partnered with King in the operation of their tobacco warehouses throughout the Southeastern United States. A master gardener, Miss Helen, as she was known by her friends and neighbors, will be remembered by many for her years of working in the garden shop at Smith Farm Services in Lillington and at the Wal-Mart Garden Center in Dunn. Most recently, she was a loving caregiver for many elderly patients in the area.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2011 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Smith, Rev. Jeff Roberts and Rev. Steve Gordon officiating. Private entombment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 pm.
She is survived by daughter, Mollie Sue Roberts Balch and husband Greg of Raleigh; son, King Roberts, Jr. of Erwin; two granddaughters, Amanda Roberts Duntz and Jenna Roberts; grandson, Greg Balch, Jr.; great granddaughter, Madelyn Powell
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wake County Hospice Center, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607
