Mr. Harvey James Beard, Jr., age 54, of Lillington died Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Harvey James, Sr. and Gertrude Wilburn Beard. Mr. Beard farmed for many years and then worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. Beard was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis and a sister, Virginia.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Westview Memorial Gardens in Lillington with Rev. Carl Graham officiating. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mr. Beard is survived by his son, Harvey James Beard III and wife Tausha of Anderson Creek, son, Jonathan Gene Beard of Anderson Creek, three grandchildren, Trey Beard, Hunter Beard, Breanna Beard Wyatt, brother, Chester Beard and wife Connie of Lillington, sister, Myrtle Johnson of Bunnlevel, brother, William Beard of Southern Pines.
