Harold “Hal” Green Blaylock, Jr., 73, of Lillington, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026. He was born in Harnett County to the late Harold Green Blaylock, Sr., and Edith Gray Moss Johnson.
Hal co-owned and partnered in Blaylock Grading Company, which he operated with his brother, James Coley Blaylock.
Generous and community-minded, Hal expressed his kindness through steady, meaningful acts of service. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether through his work or by supporting someone facing a difficult time. His thoughtfulness made people feel seen and cared for, and his generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Hal had a deep love for his horses, which brought him great joy throughout his life. He cherished the time he spent with them, and that same devotion was evident in the way he cared for his family. During his mother’s later years, he took special care of her and her friends, regularly treating them to meals and taking them on outings. He freely gave his time and attention, bringing comfort, companionship, and happiness to those he loved. In addition to his parents, Hal was preceded in death by his brother, James Coley Blaylock, and his stepfather, Louis Lavon “L.L.” Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Suzanne Blaylock Scott, and her husband, Lonnie Daniel Scott, Jr.; his granddaughter, Annabelle Elizabeth Scott; his sister-in-law, Cindy Blaylock; nieces Lauren Blaylock Strickland and Crystal Blaylock-Gee; his stepsisters, Laverne Johnson, Deborah Womble, and Hollie Wade; cousins Patricia R. Moss, William R. Moss III, Kenneth A. Moss, Elizabeth Moss Tucker, Richard Moss, Jennifer Moss Davis, Kim Moss Donaldson, and other extended family members.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, at Lillington Baptist Church in Lillington, North Carolina. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Roger Moss and Chad Strickland.
