Mr. Gilbert Franklin Moore, 91, of Broadway passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center in Sanford.

He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Willie Carson Moore and Beulah Ryals Moore Knight. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Ruth Thomas Moore and sister, Katherine Faircloth.

Gilbert was a WWII veteran and retired after serving 28 years in the United States Merchant Marines. He also retired from Blue Bell in Lillington after many years of service. Gilbert enjoyed gardening and working on his farm.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2014 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 at the funeral home.

Gilbert is survived by sisters, Lillian Reeves of Hope Mills, Eunice Woodard of Vass, Doris Kelly of Raleigh and brother, James Moore of Broadway; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
