Mr. Gilbert S. Brown, age 76, of Linden died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Harnett Co., the son of the late William J. and Lena Godfrey Brown. He was US Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Brown retired from Becker Sand & Gravel after 35 years. He was also an equipment operator at American Materials for 12 years. After his retirement, he was employed at Womble's Lumber Yard . Mr. Brown loved gardening and fishing.

Survivors include Edna Neighbors of the home; son, Steven L. Brown and wife Beverly of Lillington; grandchildren, Joseph Scott Brown, Matthew Shaw Brown, Misty Dawn Brown; 2 sisters, Jennifer Carr of Dunn and Sue Latta of Roxboro.

The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel with Rev. Bill Goodnight officiating.
