Mr. George Batker, 93, of Fuquay Varina passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was born in Madison, WI, the son of the late Walter and Dorothy West Batker. George was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Engineering. He retired from General Electric after 40 years of employment. George was a First Lieutenant in the US Army during WWII and served overseas in Korea. He was an avid woodworker who enjoyed creating objects on the lathe. George also enjoyed canoeing. He and his daughter, Janet, rarely missed their 5:00 martini. George was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Batker.

George is survived by 2 daughters, Janet Batker of Fuquay Varina and Carol Batker and wife, Lenette Sherwood of Raleigh; son, Greg Batker and wife, Suet Lim of Philadelphia, PA; 2 grandchildren, Hope and Max Lee; 2 brothers, Stanley and Dave Batker; 2 sisters, Doris Koch and Barbara Harmon. He also left his beloved cat, Bertie behind.

No service will be held at this time.
