Mr. Gattis Autry Johnson, 73, of Lillington passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. Gattis was born December 14, 1942 in Harnett County to the late Hal Beecher Sr. and Alma Watkins Johnson. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hal Beecher Johnson Jr., Dolan Johnson and Alonzo Fleming Johnson.

Gattis is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Alda Darroch Johnson of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Kimberly Scalf and husband Tony of Warner Robins, GA and Traci Farmer and husband Laurance of New Bern, NC; son, Stephen Johnson and wife Elaine of Fuquay Varina, NC; 6 grandchildren, Zachary Scalf, Abbey Scalf, Angelina Farmer, Kimberly Lamelas, Matthew Johnson and Emma Johnson; 3 sisters, Annie Lee Sox, Jean McGehee and Katherine Holder.

Gattis was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Bragg. He loved NASCAR, tractors and classic cars. He was well loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Altman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
