Fred Coleman Jones, 84, died at Green Leaf Care Center on October 5, 2020. He was born January 24, 1936 in Harnett County. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Wyatt Jones, Louise Coleman Jones, and Mozelle Coleman Jones; his sister Helen Gray Jones and his wife Lillian Jones. He is survived by his sisters Carolyn (Curtis) Fowler and Sharon (Bill) Harris; nephews Steve (Kathy), sons Zachary and Logan Fowler; Dan (Jill), daughter Ayden, son Solomon Harris; and Tim Harris.

Fred retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and known in the area as a "bird dog" and "coon hound" trainer. His greatest pleasure other than being outdoors hunting and fishing was his vegetable garden. He enjoyed sharing the bounty with family and friends until his health declined.
