Mrs. Frances Smith Jones, 91, a resident at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunn, NC, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She was born in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late Martin Luther Smith and Rosa Anna Hill Smith. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Odell Jones of Eden, NC and siblings, Carl W. Smith, Grace Lee Smith, Josephine Gunn and Evelyn Smith. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and a dedicated employee of Eden City Schools where she worked as a pastry cook at James E. Holmes Junior High School. Mrs. Jones was an active member at Spray Baptist Church in Eden, NC. After moving to Buies Creek, she became a member of Buies Creek First Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Overlook Cemetery in Eden, NC with Rev. Dr. J. Michael Simmons officiating. A viewing will be held at the graveside from 10:30-10:50 AM.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra Jones Simmons and husband Michael of Coats, NC, son, William Darryl Jones and wife Donna of Lake Charles, LA, grandchildren, Jeffrey Brian Simmons and wife Kristy of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Beth Simmons Lemons and husband Jason of Fuquay Varina, Molly Bradford Jones of Lake Charles, LA, great-grandchildren, Peyton Simmons, Chloe Simmons, Dylan Simmons, Elijah Lemons and Levi Lemons, sister, Iris Smith Powell of Wentworth, NC, nieces and nephews.
