Mrs. Frances Moss Holland Smith Brown, 96, of Oxford, FL passed away from this life Friday, December 18, 2015 at Villages Hospice House, The Villages, FL. She was born Margaret Frances Moss, March 25, 1919 an only child to Joseph and Margaret Moss. Frances married Gernie Roberson Holland (G.R.) in 1935 in Lillington, NC. Frances resided in Greensboro from 1962-2013 where she was employed by Sears Mail Order Division for 20 years. She was a member of Guilford Baptist Church in Greensboro for over 50 years.
In June 2013, she moved to Oxford, FL where she resided at The Carriage House Retirement Living. There she made many new friends and loved to engage in all the activities. Of the many blessings Frances received in her life was that of being given seven wonderful children by her first husband, Gernie R. Holland.
Upon his passing in 1965, she was again joyously blessed to marry Archie Smith of Liberty, NC. After Mr. Smith was called to the Lord, Frances was guided to a final matrimony of marriage to Eugene Brown of Lillington, NC. She has been widowed since 1993. Others preceding in her death are her parents, Joseph and Margaret Moss and her special Aunt Bertie Lee Ragland. She was also preceded in death by son, Gernie M. Holland, daughter, Judith Holland Greene and grandson, Dale Roberson Holland.
She is survived by daughters, Ruby Holland Lanier (Jim), Marsha Holland Peacock (Jerry) and son, Charles L. Holland (Jean) all of The Villages, FL; sons, Joseph R. Holland (Betty Jo) and Johnny H. Holland (Jennie) both of Lillington, NC; 12 grandchildren, Gail, Ramona, Jeff, Cindy, Lynwood, Michael, Lisa, Scott, Bryan, Heath, Heather and Shaun; 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 21, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Martin Groover and Rev. Robbie O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM and other times at the home of Johnny Holland.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent in her memory to, The Villages Hospice House, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
