Mrs. Florie Blanchard Smith, 88, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2020.

She was born in Harnett County to the late Floyd Stanley Blanchard and Mattie Lee Ausley Blanchard.  She worked for Betts Tackle Ltd until retirement.  She was known as a wonderful cook and she willingly shared this gift with family and friends.

A private family service will be held.

Florie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gene "Nine" Smith; her son, Joseph Phillip Smith; and siblings, Stanley Edward Blanchard, Delia Gertrude Arnold, and Hilda Brown.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna S. Jones of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Joseph Ashley Jones and wife Skipper S. Jones, Terri Smith Barbour and husband Jamie, Joseph Christopher Smith and Brandon Smith; and three great-grandsons, Dillion Barbour, William Reid Jones and Thomas Wright Jones; sisters, Ruth Baucom, Iris Jean Johnson, Louise Johnson, and JoAnn Betts; and sister-in-law, Rachel Weaver Blanchard.

A special thanks to Larue McDonald for the priceless care that she gave to Florie.
