Mrs. Etta Jernigan Strickland died on Thursday, July 24, 2014.

The Johnston County native was born December 7, 1915 to the late George Millard Jernigan and Arrell B. Jernigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Allen Strickland, a daughter, Jacquelyn Strickland, a granddaughter Susan K. Hartman and a son-in-law Carl Leo Kelly.

Mrs. Strickland was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter Number 243 Lillington North Carolina. Mrs. Strickland was also a charter member of the Linden Development Club.

The funeral will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Sardis Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sally Henry, Rev. Joseph Hester, Jr. and Rev. Gary Buffkin officiating. Burial will follow at Bunnlevel Cemetery on the Right in Bunnlevel. The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by a daughter, Delilah S. Kelly, a granddaughter Carol K. Bain and husband Reggie of Bunnlevel; a grandson, Carl A. Kelly and wife Sue of Fayetteville; a grandson-in-law Rodney Hartman and wife Karen; 9 great grandchildren, Stephanie H. Robbins and husband Jonathan, Emily Hartman, Jake Strickland, Haley Strickland, Matthew Bain and wife Lauren, Jason Kelly, Amy Nicole Kelly, Johnny Haney and wife Kristen, June DePue and husband Shayne; 7 great great grandchildren, Dominick, Haven and Elizabeth Haney, Isaiah, Zoe and Lily DePue and William Robbins.
