Mrs. Elva "Scat" Barney Lovette, age 93 of Lillington died Monday, January 30, 2017 at her home. Scat was the daughter of the late John Willis and Elva Snyder Barney. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fleming Lovette, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Mrs. Lovette retired from BB&T Bank and was a faithful member of the Lillington United Methodist Church.

Scat was truly loved by her family and friends. She was a kind and considerate mother and grandmother, giving of her time freely to all. She was known throughout the community for her beautiful flower beds and for her delicious yeast rolls and cinnamon buns.

She is survived by her son, James "Jimmy" Fleming Lovette, Jr. and his wife Beth of Winston Salem.
Daughter, Cindy Simpson and her husband Tony of Fuquay-Varina. 3 Grandchildren: Angela Lovette Reeves and husband Ed; James Fleming Lovette, III and wife Amy; John Walter Lovette and wife Hannah. 5 Great Grandchildren: Caleb, Conner, Camryn, Caiden, and Andrea.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Lillington United Methodist Church with Rev. David Heath and Rev. Dr. Elton Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00—11:00 am prior to the service in the church parlor.
