Mrs. Elva Gray Leaird, 91, of Lillington passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at First Health Hospital in Pinehurst. She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late John R. and Lettie Smith Holley. Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Leaird and sons, Bobby, J.T. and Joe Leaird. Being a lifetime member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church, she was the eldest standing member until her death. Elva was also an active member in the Keenagers Club at Spring Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening and visiting with friends.

Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home of Ronda and Kris Melby.

Elva is survived by her son, Van Leaird of Lillington, daughter, Mary Lois Leaird of Broadway, grandchildren, Ronda Melby and husband Kris of Broadway, Kim Leaird of Lillington, Suzanne Edwards and husband Joe of Bear Creek, Jeremy Leaird of Broadway and Brandon Leaird and wife Mandy of Carrboro, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
