Mrs. Ellen Campbell Johnson, 94, of Lillington passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Green Leaf Care Center in Lillington. She was born in Durham County, the daughter of the late William Thomas Campbell and Mattie Hamilton Campbell. Ellen was a lifetime member of Neill's Creek Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member of the choir. Her greatest devotion was to her husband making sure he had his favorites to eat including the wonderful cakes and sweets. Ellen was well known for being able to recall names and birthdates of friends and family. In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Cack Johnson; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Campbell Boyette and Mabel Campbell Roberts and a brother, Louis Campbell.

Ellen is survived by a son, Marshall Johnson and wife Beverly of Lillington; a daughter, Barbara Johnson Turner of Statesville; 3 grandchildren, Scott Johnson and wife Cindy of Lillington, Mark Turner and wife Michele of Charlotte, Aubrey Turner and husband Randall Weatherman of Statesville; 4 great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, August 10, 2018 at Neill's Creek Baptist Church in Angier with Dr. Chris Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 2:00-2:45 PM.
