Mr. Edward Wade "Eddie" Humphrey, 60, of Buies Creek, passed away on March 9, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.

Eddie was retired from Johnston Co. Soil and Water.  He was a lifelong member of Buies Creek First Baptist Church.

He was a humble, strong Christian man who dedicated his life to working to make the lives of others better.  He was a fighter who faced many illnesses and battles along his way.  He protected his family and enjoyed each of his five children by playing ball, watching them ride horses, and helping them study or just seeing who was quicker at math.  He will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 11 am at Buies Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Sowers presiding.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shelly Humphrey; his five children, Gregory, Georgeanna, Ben, and Blake, all of the home, and Brigett; and sister, Teresa Enzor (Benny) of Buies Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington.
