Mrs. Edna K. Newton, 98, of Lillington passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Harnett Woods Nursing Home in Dunn. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Nathan and Elizabeth Kelly. Edna worked for the Harnett County Register of Deeds and also served as the Deputy Secretary for the Harnett County Sheriff. She grew up in Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Broadway and later moved to Lillington where she became a member of Lillington Presbyterian Church. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Newton and sister, Vallie K. Harrington.

Graveside service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Houston officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 PM. and other times at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Kelly Harrington.

Edna is survived by a niece, Janet Harrington Hall and husband, Bobby of Little River, SC, nephew, Kelly Harrington and wife, Sandra of Broadway and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
