Mr. Dwight Lee Cotton, 73, of Kipling passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late WJ Cotton and Iris Cotton. As a jack of all trades, in his early years Dwight farmed tobacco, soybeans, and cotton; followed by mastering grading and excavating. His love for sports led him to refereeing football and volleyball, and umpiring baseball and softball. Additionally, Mr. Cotton enjoyed being outdoors and was an active member of the Harnett County Master Gardeners. He never sat still, and you could always find him outside fixing something, tinkering with his tools in the garage, or riding on the backhoe. Dwight adored his family and especially his sweet granddaughters, Ava and Piper.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00am at Kipling United Methodist Church with Rev. Melinda Ivey and Rev. Justin Jamis officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kipling Community Building immediately following the service and other times at his home.

Dwight Cotton is survived by wife, Mitchell Cotton of Kipling, daughter, Bailey Berryann and husband, Andrew of Kipling, son, Seth and wife, Lauren of Bunnlevel, daughter Emma of Kipling, sisters Betty C. Evans of Rock Hill, SC, and June C. Sloan and husband, Terry of Gainesville, GA, 2 grandchildren, Ava and Piper, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
