Mrs. Doris Byrd Wood, age 82, of Lillington died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late C.R. and Naomi Jones Byrd. Mrs. Wood was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville for over 30 years. She also was a member of Lillington Baptist Church. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph O. Byrd, R. Kelton Byrd, C.R. Byrd, A. Stanton Byrd and Talmadge Byrd.

Funeral service will be 2:00 Tuesday,June 29, 2010 at Lillington Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Smith, Rev. Condary Ellis and Rev. Ronnie Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Monday, June 28, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

She is survived by her husband Harold Gene Wood of the home, son Alan Wood and wife Beth of Clayton, son Colonel Jerry Wood and wife Linse of Ft. Monroe, VA, six grandchildren, Rachael, Avery, Sarah, Connor, Katherine and Walker, brothers, C. Granville Byrd and wife Ruth of Burlington, H. Watson Byrd of Burlington, sisters, Marie Byrd Clark of West Chester, PA, Linda Byrd Williams and husband Jerry of Dunn.
