Ms. Doris Jean McDonald, 59, of Lillington passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Duke Raleigh Hospital surrounded by her children. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late William Jasper McDonald, Sr. and Annie Jane Barefield. Doris worked as a RN in labor and delivery for nearly 30 years. Ms. McDonald was a strong, independent woman who raised six children as a single parent. Doris bravely battled lung cancer for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, whom she loved dearly, William Jasper McDonald, Jr. Doris, who always put her children and grandchildren first, will be remembered as a great mother and a phenomenal grandmother.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2015 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Kennebec Baptist Church Cemetery in Angier. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30-2:00 at the funeral home and other times at her home.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Narron, son, Bubba Moseley, son, Travis Moseley, daughter, Jesse Lashmit, daughter, Amanda Hall and daughter, Christy Hall, grandchildren, Miranda Narron, Gage Narron, Skylor Moseley, Taylor Moseley, Layla McDonald, Kinlee Moseley, Grant Moseley and Emory Lashmit, mother, Annie Jane Barefield, sisters, Linda Seagroves, Susan Ryals, Janet Smith, Patsy McDonald and brother, Steven Sanford and nieces and nephews.
