Mrs. Dorah Tart, resident of Green Leaf Care Center, Lillington passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1983 and son, Thedmon, in 2014.

Dorah was a long time resident of the Flatwoods Community (just outside Lillington) where she had her farm and home. For 70 years Dorah lived in that home on Titan Roberts Road. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Her irises, roses and daffodils were admired by all and she willingly shared with friends and neighbors. Her summers were filled with picking, canning and freezing vegetables and preserving fruits and berries from the garden.

Dorah loved to tell a funny story or joke and could recite "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer well into her late 90's. She often composed tributes and poems for friends. At 77 years old, Dorah composed a short history of her husband's family- the Tarts of the Flatwoods Community.

She is survived by three children, Rodney of Lillington, Paula of Asheboro and Delorah (J.B.) of Raleigh; 7 grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Nicholas, Brandon, Analeah, Erin and Michael; 6 great grandchildren, Julia, Susannah, Zachery, Markus, Ava Grace and Olivia.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with Rev. Dr. Bill Goodnight officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00 PM.
