Donnell was best known for her love of family and friends. She devoted her life to following her husband's travels across the world, raising her family and sharing her life with a multitude of friends. Donnell never met a stranger, she was the first person to say hello, and she rarely said good bye. Art was her hobby, she painted with oils mostly, and creating pictures for many homes with her landscapes of places she had visited. She was also a skilled knitter and crocheters, teaching anyone who would sit still long enough to learn. She possessed a "green" thumb and loved her cultivating her vegetable and flower gardens everywhere she lived.
