Coats

Dewey Talwadge "Tom" Avery, 80 of Coats passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Betsey Johnson Hospital.

Tom was born in Harnett Co. to the late Sally Gaster and Arthur Dewey Avery. He is preceded in death by 5 brothers, Dossie, David, Clyde, Leonard, and Winfeild Avery; sister, Helen Royals; a grandson, Garrett Blackman,
Tom loved his children and grandchildren. When he was younger he would race cars at the drag strip. He loved trips to the mountains and play golf. When he was able he loved going to church.

A graveside service will be held 4:00 P.M. Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years Annie Autry Avery; a daughter, Yvonne A. Blackman of Dunn; 2 sons, Tommy Avery, Jr and wife Tammy of Coats and Michael Jennings Avery and wife Cindy of Angier; 3 sisters, Louise Stewart of Angier, Hilda Ann Barefoot and husband Bobby of Four Oaks, and Janice Autry and husband Jerry of Texas; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
