Mr. Danny Lewis Smith, 56, of Lillington passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.  He was born in Erwin, NC, the son of Doris Eaton and James Lewis Smith.   Danny grew up in Lillington and throughout the years worked with his father in Raleigh in the maintenance trade specializing in painting.  Over the past several years, he worked at Carter's Economy Cleaners in Lillington.  Danny enjoyed music, including playing guitar and piano and spending time with family and friends.  He was an avid gymnast in his youth.  People fondly remember Danny doing handsprings and backflips and walking on his hands at parties.  Danny had a kind heart and was loved by all who knew him.

His stepmother, Judy Carolyn Clifton Smith, preceded him in death.

Danny is survived by his father, James Lewis "Smitty" Smith of Lillington, brother Scott Smith and wife April of Fayetteville, brother Paul Smith and wife Bridget of Willow Spring, NC, half-sister Lora Schade of Morehead City, nephews Brandon Smith of Angier and Dustin Smith of Lillington, niece Stormy Smith of Angier, and first cousin Paul Pace of Coats.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 11:00 – 12:45 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Summerville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
