Crawford Stedman "Pete" Connell, 76 of Linden passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his residence.

Pete was born November 3, 1939 in Harnett Co. to the late Nancy Eloise Picklesimer and Crawford Young Connell. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Stedman Connell; a half-brother, Samuel Moss.

Pete was an active member and elder of Sardis Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Linden Christian Men's Fellowship Group and the Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Club. He loved to garden, hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending time with family and dear friends.

Pete was survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Vann Connell of Linden; 2 sons, David N. Connell and wife Nicole of Coats and Daniel C. Connell and wife Teresa of Lillington; 2 half-sisters, Margaret Alford of Mooresville and Betty Doria of CA; 2 grandchildren, Mason Nicole Connell of Buies Creek and Stedman Blake Connell of Lillington; 2 step-grandchildren, Colby Aponte of Coats and Jovan Aponte of Coats.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at the home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sardis Presbyterian Church, Linden with Rev. Sally Henry officiating.
