Cornelius Allen Tart, 82 of Spring Lake, passed away at his home on Wednesday July 16, 2014.

Cornelius was born July 18, 1931 in Vance Co. NC to the late John Robert and Ethel Mae Allen Tart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Bobby Jean Holder Tart; 2 sisters, Bernetta Fish and Carolyn Norris.

Cornelius was a member of College Lakes Baptist Church. He loved to garden, spend time with his family and messing with cars.

Cornelius is survived by 3 children, Sharon Graham and husband Charles of Sanford, Timothy Tart and wife Shelley of Spring Lake, and Rev. Robert Tart and wife Lynda of Bahama; a sister, Nancy "Red" Fish of Linden; 11 grandchildren, Dana Cashwell and husband Travis, Amanda Steingiesser and husband Steven, Michele Kelly and husband Lee, Jessica Williams and husband Bryan, Duncan Tart, Katie, Brittany, Heidi, Alex, Sophie, and Isaac Tart; 10 great grand children, Cameron, Madeline and Thomas Cashwell, Bailey and Chloe Steingiesser, Magen and Devin Godfrey, Logan Woodley, Addison and Cassidy Williams.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at College Lakes Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Rev. Samuel Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at his home.
