Mr. Coll Hector Sexton, 87, of Lillington died Monday, December 19, 2016 at home. Coll was born on a dairy farm in Harnett County, the son of the late Roger and Laura Parrish Sexton. After his mother passed away, Roger married Esther Secrest Sexton who helped raise Coll from an early age. He lived and worked in Harnett County his entire life. Coll was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. After the war, he worked as an insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance and Great American Insurance. He owned and operated the Exxon and Gulf stations in Lillington. He later owned and operated a used car dealership in Lillington until his retirement. Coll served as a Constable for Harnett County; former Chief of Summerville Fire Dept.; past Commander of the Lillington VFW and a member of the Lillington Jaycees. He was a life-long member of Pleasant Union Christian Church where he sang in the church choir and served as President of the Men's Fellowship. Coll was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Sexton and sister, Katherine S. Edgerton.

Coll is survived by a daughter, Debra Sexton Peach and husband, Mike of Raleigh; son, Bruce Sexton and wife, Jennifer of Knightdale; son, Brian Sexton and wife, Natalie of Conway, SC; 10 grandchildren, Brandon Peach, Jonathan Peach, Kevin Peach, Elizabeth Sexton, Sydney Sprague, Cameron Harris, Coll Davis Sexton, Mary Catherine Sexton, Matthew Sexton and Josiah Sexton; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Billy Sexton, Fred Sexton and wife, Faye and Tommy Sexton all of Lillington; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Earp of Lillington and Ruth Rich of Eastover; sister-in-law, Jean Sexton of Lillington and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with Dr. Greg Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
